We currently deliver BIOHEAT Plus, a 20% biofuel blend. As a result, our customers have reduced their CO2 emissions by as much as 14.6% (NESCAUM) from when they used No. 2 Heating Oil. This is an exciting development – and we are finding out their equipment burns more efficiently as well. A win-win.
B100 is a renewable fuel made with 100% bio-stock such as soybean oil, inedible corn oil, animal fats, canola oil, and used cooking oil. Today, it is not yet ready for heating homes, but what if it were? If one day all the homes in the US heating with fuel oil burned B100, over 8 million metric tons of carbon emissions could be avoided.
And so, on a sunny day in October in support of biofuels and their development for home heating, we delivered 250 gallons of B100 to SUNY Morrisville on behalf of the National Oilheat Research Alliance (NORA). We made this delivery at cost because we support the efforts to refine the use of biofuels to heat homes as part of a seamless transition to greener energy and the research, development, and training going on at SUNY Morrisville.
Here is a little more information about these organizations which we regard so highly:
SUNY Morrisville (https://www.morrisville.edu/areas-of-study/renewable-energy) is an institution committed to “going green”. They utilize renewable energy resources across campus, but more importantly, their new Agricultural and Clean Energy Technology (ACET) Center features a center for applied learning technology with a state-of-the-art biofuels lab and adjacent bioenergy crop plantations.
NORA (https://noraweb.org/) was authorized by Congress in 2000 to provide funding to achieve more efficient, more reliable and lower carbon home heating and hot water to American Consumers. NORA’s efforts in the development of renewable, environmentally friendly Zero-Carbon products have resulted in Bioheat® fuel, America’s most efficient and direct path to eliminating carbon emissions from homes. Working in concert with the agriculture industry, fuel suppliers, heating systems manufacturers and fuel retailers NORA, has been a leader in reducing carbon emissions quickly, economically and responsibly.
